The OJN Foundation was officially represented at the Pan-African Youth Union (PYU) Regional Consultation for West Africa, where young leaders and institutions gathered to shape the direction of youth engagement across the region.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Ms. Deborah Ojima Edoh, Director of Partnership, delivered a compelling contribution to the discourse. She raised a critical concern: the proliferation of youth platforms and organizations that show high visibility but produce minimal real-life impact for the everyday young person.
Ms. Edoh emphasized that meaningful youth development must extend beyond conference rooms and leadership circles. She highlighted the urgent need for actionable initiatives, relatable policies, and practical programmes that reach young people who are not at the table, youth who face daily socioeconomic challenges yet remain disconnected from institutional conversations.
She also underscored the importance of establishing strong leadership institutions that build capacity, equip young people with relevant skills, and prepare them to take up leadership roles across sectors.
The OJN Foundation remains committed to advancing solutions that translate to measurable outcomes, stronger communities, and empowered young Africans.
Her contribution echoed the values of the OJN Foundation—youth empowerment, leadership excellence, and sustainable development. The Foundation remains committed to ensuring that young people across West Africa have access to strong, structured, and impactful platforms that prepare them for leadership in governance, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.
As the consultation continues across the region, the voice of the OJN Foundation stands firm:
Unifying youth platforms is not just a reform—it’s a necessity for building the next generation of African leaders.
