The Oladele John Nihi (OJN) Foundation on Thursday convened an Employee/Management Development Programme at its secretariat in Lokoja, Kogi State, bringing together members of staff, the Board of Trustees, and volunteers for a strategic capacity-building session.

Held under the theme “24HR LDP – Global Trends in Non-Profit Organizations,” the programme formed part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity, improve operational effectiveness, and position its workforce to respond more effectively to emerging demands within the non-profit sector.
The programme featured an engaging session led by Dr. Fanisi Babatunde, Director of Innovations and Entrepreneurship at Kogi State University, Kabba.
Dr. Babatunde took participants through a broad exploration of the development and changing landscape of civil society and non-profit organisations. The session also examined issues surrounding organisational growth, volunteer engagement, institutional effectiveness, and strategic transition.
Participants actively engaged with the facilitator throughout the session, creating an atmosphere of interaction, reflection, and knowledge exchange.
Following a brief 15-minute interlude, the programme progressed into a practical group exercise. Participants were divided into syndicate groups and tasked with developing project plans using the SMART framework.
The exercise provided an opportunity for staff, board members, and volunteers to work collaboratively and apply elements of the training in a practical setting.
While the session provided participants with new perspectives and valuable professional development opportunities, the Foundation described the programme as part of a broader process of continuous learning and institutional strengthening.
Delivering the closing remarks, the Executive Director expressed appreciation to Dr. Babatunde for the depth and quality of the session, noting the importance of continuous development to the Foundation’s growth and effectiveness.
She further disclosed that follow-up sessions would be organised to continue the development process and build on the strategic direction introduced during the programme.
The Employee/Management Development Programme reinforces the OJN Foundation’s commitment to investing in its people and building an organisation capable of creating sustainable impact within its communities.
